Does anyone know or any idea how to hard wire in a sat nav (chinese version) ?
I just came back from maplins after asking a guy in their who suggested this is what he would do : Take the car charger apart that came with the sat nav and use the insides of this to hard wire to a live ignition feed straight to your system - but does any tech heads on here have any better ideas ? ::bigsmile:

Don't do that - you will lose the fuse in the plug part of the car charger.

If you can find somewhere convenient to hide it wire in a 12V socket and plug the charger into that. On mine the sat nav is mounted high next to the rear view mirror and the plug and socket are above the head lining

well these Chinese navs need 5v and 1.2a... I connected a in car charger to my sat nav (not the original lead that came with it - but the output was still 5v but only 500ma) after about half an hour the sat nav kept urging me to connect a power source - when it was already connected - it eventually shut down after about an hour, i have since connected the original lead and its been fine, but i just want all these wires out the way so i can free up my power sockets:cry:

Buy yourself a 12 volt DC to 5 volt convertor (Ebay) with a mini usb connector ( I presume this is your power connection to the Sat Nav) or what ever the power connection is, don't forget to put a in-line fuse in the power feed.......
Im doing this tomorrow for the crash camera:Cool:
