Hi
We are in southern Germany having just come back from Italy through Austria. Our observations are as follows, there are no aires/stellplatz in Austria and ACSI camp sites are few and far between; camp sites are extensive too, so we drove straight through Austria just stopping to enjoy the scenery and fill up with fuel it is cheaper than Italy.
We went to Venice via Lake Garda and found 2 great sites. At Lake Garda we used the one at Moniga del garda and in Venice Serenissima - it saved a long drive round to the peninsula of Jesselo.

If eating out in Venice beware of cheap menus - they will make up the difference with the extortionate price for drinks.

Have a great trip - we are still enjoying ours.

Buy a hovercraft cos the roads in Italy are horrible! Seriously though, I am in Italy now and I love the place, en route back from Sicily as I did not have enough time last year to get there. I'm at an ACSI CS in Pozzuoli called Vulcano Solfatera which is north of Naples, it's actually in a volcanic crater which is dormant. Hopefully.
Fuel: watch out for the self-service garages during normal hours, as they add on 0.08 cents per litre if you are served by an attendant. Oh, and the drivers are lunatics...

It will be HOT. Probably expensive.

But what the hell it's got everything, mountains, lakes, lakes with mountains, golden beaches and wonderful sights everywhere.

Florence is one of the best cities to get a feel for Italy. It has everything, art, palaces and a proper Italian city that is just the right size to explore on foot. Try Camping Michael Angelo.

Further down the road Pompeii and Herculaneum have to be visited.

Rome, too big, you've got to get serious to take that on.

You'll be close to Pisa, you've seen the pictures but the reality is so much more.

Enjoy.
