Just went to set off for Inverness rally and our vehicle battery is dead. Nothing was left on and it was used 2weeks ago. I have a fully chargedleisure battery at home. Could we swap our bbattery over so we can get moving?

Greetings,

I assume you mean using the Hab battery. Nothing wrong with doing that as a one off.

Just make sure that the terminals of the hab. battery are kept away from each other, (assuming that you don't connect the engine battery)

Should be fine providing it fits OK, would be wise to make sure there is not a drain on the main one though! Just a quick test with a meter first.
Batteries do tend to die very quickly nowadays so it might be that it has just passed away.

quite a few years now, and loving every minute..
why does the vehicle battery drain so quickly these days, have had a similar problem with my van..

during that awful spell of wet weather and flooding earlier in the year, i didn't use my van for a couple of months and it killed the battery even though it had been a brand new heavy duty fitted by the convertors..

had to call the aa out, it wouldn't charge and i had to have a new battery, he told me that modern vehicles, because they have alarms and immobilisers that draw on the battery, anything longer than a week or two would have discharged enough to not start the vehicle..
is that right, surely a battery should hold it's charge for longer than that?

Got a 'concealed' version of yours. Looks to a potential thief that the battery is kaput when it's switched off, and the key removed. :thumb:

what exactly is that, i don't have a clue?
i know diddly squat about electrics, sorry..

It bolts on your battery terminal ,and is really a big switch.

Turning the green knob turns on or off the power.
