I have just bought a stealth campervan. My plan is to carry two bikes. I think I will use the Fiamma carrier. BUT I have one more idea and it's likely not very practical but I would like to know what you guys think about it - my idea was to get a roof-rack, wrap the bikes in a tarpaulin truck cover and carry them flat-packed on the roof-rack.

I have searched the net and I do not see anyone doing this. I guess the aerodynamics will be the issue and there will be some (??) extra fuel cost.

Why I like my idea: it will maintain the stealth aspect which I like. Plus I could potentially use the roof-rack to carry other things.

started when I was 11 with my parents-forgot to stop!been real one since 1980!
Can you store them inside? Stealth bombers don't have external bomb loads!

no reason why not .. just extra drag and wind noise..

but not for me.. too much hassle getting them up and down..

Do you have a fixed ladder for getting up.. ? If so, then so can the scrotes.

On and off for many years.
Getting them on and off will be a pain in the behind..... unless you can get an easy-loader for bikes similar to the one used for kayaks:

I'm not sure if there is something similar for bikes but might be worth a look.

I remember years ago doing a trip to Amsterdam. There were six of us so we had six bikes, two on the bike rack and four on the roof.
It can be done, the difficult bit is getting them up there.

I don't have one but have seen them in action and they look like a great bit of kit. The man who was using one to load his sea kayak loaded it single handed - I'd gone across offering to help. You might need to check heights as it may still be quite a lift to get it onto a camper. Kari-Tec (the makers) used to be at a lot of the kayak shows but we haven' been for a while so don't know if they still attend. We are hoping to be at the Perth Canoe and Kayak Show in October this year, looking for day boats.

Kari-Tec's high lift roof rack says it is suitable for bikes. Might be worth giving them a call.

I have no connection with this company but have seen their products in action.

yes, I'll check when we get a camper.. it's either that, or extent the drawbar on my trailer and put the canoes on top..

hi.
Be brazen, carry bikes on the back on a carrier, have a couple of magnetic signs saying.... Bike sales --repairs etc. stuck on the side and or rear.

Hide in Full View/Plain Sight. Simple.
