Our upcoming "summer trek" has made think of the distsnces we are now travelling in our aged van (1991), which right now is driving like a dream. I do at times wish we had factory fitted cruise control, to take pressure off aching bones, but perhaps they were not generally available or routinely fitted in the 90's

My question therefore is this, is it practical, or indeed possible, to retro fit this device to older vans ?
Apart from cost what might be the shortcomings of doing this?
How long might it take to fit?

Look forward to some replies

Regards, Bryan

Hi Bryan, I had Dave Newel fit one to my 2003 Boxer....absolutely delighted with it. Dave's service is second to none and the quality of workmanship superb. I stayed at a local CL and made use of being in the area to visit Ironbridge. Give Dave an e-mail, you won't regret it:thumb:

Dave Newell did one for me and it was superb. Great service as well.

I see from your location that you are in Malaga, so would presume that you would have it done on a return trip to the UK, otherwise it would be one heck of a round trip ::bigsmile:

Spot on!
Our trek this year will see us in London and at the Stratford and Misterton meets, amongst other places, and would look to having it done then..... if at all.

Regards, Bryan.

I use mine all the time, mainly to help me keep the speed at a reasonable and economic pace, and I love it. If I don't use it, as SWMBO says, I soon start to drive it like I've stolen it. :winky:

Less than a day - and I THINK in the region of £350-£400, depending on exact system fitted - but best check with Dave.

You won't regret the investment.

at 1991 it will be a mechanical system....no ecu or common rail injection requiring an electronic system....so may be cheaper but slightly more complicated to fit.

We used Adroit a few years ago. We were met on a lay-by and the system fitted in about an hour. He then spent another hour or so talking us through the system whilst we were driving until we were happy we had got the hang of it. Thoroughly nice guy. Can't remember the cost but Google Adroit Cruise Control for their details.

Had one e mailed quote back for this work........... supply and fit £364 VAT included, seems pretty reasonable to me. One quote still to come.

Another vote for Dave Newell. An excellent job. Worth every penny. You can spend the day at Blists Hill living museum while the work is done. Well worth a visit. :thumb:

cruise control

I'm a signed up member of the dave newell appreciation society as well he did my 1999 autostratus about 5 years ago no problems with it and at newbury he fitted a refillable gas system all for the price of a bit of sponge cake ( well almost).
while I'm singing praises I must shout from the rooftops about the service I received at newbury and since returning home of AUTOGAS 2000. System was great value advice was simple and fitting by dave was quick and neat. Between them a great combo

Thanks for the offer, but as a technical nitwit I have no idea what you are offering or indeed if it is what I need/want.:Blush:

Have not yet made a decision on this but IF I proceed the van will go to a specialist outfit as I have absolutely no skills in this field, DIY is not an option for me.
