Now this is interesting. The book I referred to above explains a basic difference in the brain processes of males and females. This results in women being programmed to 'multi-task' to use that awful modernism) whereas males tend to be much more focused on an outcome. I think it's to do with a primeval need for men hunt and kill prey. Whilst this appears to equip women well for life today, the downside is that they tend to trade off 'spatial awareness' for multi-tasking. Hence the reference "why women can't read maps'.
This probably explains why women tend to require constant conversation and audio-visual stimulation, whereas a bloke is quite happy to lie under the motorhome with a spanner for hours on end, pondering the size of his chassis and running gear.
A reason postulated for the differences in brain process is that early brain development in the male foetus occurs at a time when high levels of testosterone are sloshing about in the mother's womb. Female brains develop at a time when testosterone levels are lower.
Get the book - it won't help with map-reading, but it will provide a lot of material for arguments between the sexes.
