Presidential Cars
Hi All,
Have you ever wondered what all those extra SUVs are in the Presidential
or VIP motorcades? You know, the ones with blackened windows that no one
gets in or out of.
Well, wonder no more. They have a 6 barrelled 7.62 mm mini gun. They
fire over 4,000 rounds per minute. The wipers need to be run to remove
spent casings when the weapon is firing.
The video is from the company that makes this happen. The vehicle is
also armour plated.
Regards
Chris

And what about the limo?
During the George Bush Snr presidency, I was visiting Philadelphia. I Had a lunch appointment, and came down from my room at the hotel. Unbeknowns to me, I pressed the wrong button in the elevator. Came out at what I thought was the ground floor and, as I walked in the direction of a lot of people attending some event, I was ushered back in the elevator by secret service guys.
When I got downstairs, I asked the doorman what was going on, and he told me that Barbara Bush was giving a lunchtime speech on the floor I'd inadvertently stopped at. He was complaining that they'd shut down the street outside so she could safely disemabark the limo. He explained that the Presidential limo would normally ride a special elevator up to the appropriate floor, and the occupants would step out without fear of being seen by a potential assassin on the street.
The perks of the job.

Hi Tom,
Great story, but I personally would not call it a perk, more like a serious downside. No more privacy or safe places for you and your family to go!

Chris

Aye, you're right Chris. I was being a little sarcastic with my 'perks of the job' comment. I know I sure wouldn't want to have to live with armed security people around me 24 hours a day.
Those secret service agents are trained to do one thing - protect the Presidency at all costs, which means protecting the President and first family. Since the Vice President could potentially be President at any time, he gets the same treatment.
Dick Chaney explained in a TV interview what happened to him on 9/11, immediately after the planes hit the twin towers. Bush was away in another part of the country and Chaney was holding a meeting at the White House. A couple of agents came into the room and said "we have to go, right now, sir". Without hesitation, they each grabbed an arm and literally carried him to a bunker.
I knew how he felt when those agents stuffed me back in the elevator at the hotel

A few years ago I was invited into the Governors mansion in Sacramento. This was prior to Arnie being elected. We walked out of a door and slap bang into the middle of a press conference being given by Gray Davis! His security detail were very big, very scary and very quick at moving me out of the room again.
