Don't think we ever propped up their banks, did we?
I do remember a lot of people who saw the chance of getting more interest than most by taking the risk.
If the UK had offered to pay the Dutch for their losses on Lloyds accounts they had, would we have cried "foul"? Certainly £10k per head is a lot of money to Icelanders who never stood to gain from private bank activity.
They say they will pay the money, even now.
