Oh no, not again???.......
I've just sat down, and watched the news, and I'm getting an uneasy feeling.
After the killing of 2 soldiers and a police officerin Northern Ireland earlier in the year, I've just heard that there has been a firefight between the Police and unknown gunmen yesterday, and today, a 400Lb car bomb at a police barracks placed by dissident Republicans exploded, fortunately in a limited manner and no one was killed.
Together with an increase in street violence, this is a worrying trend.
Please God don't let this start again. The people of Northern Ireland must be terrified while just a few idiots try and re-start the violence which they thought was over.
PLEASE GOD!!!!

God didn't start religion. People started religion. Corrupt people corrupted religion, and morally corrupt people twist religon to their own means today. Bigotry is what fuels the troubles in Ulster.
I've spent a lot of time there, including being one of the first on the ground in 1970. I've spoken at length to both Catholic and Protestant. They don't want any trouble. They hate the troubles perhaps more than anybody else.

i agree....
like any war/conflict in the world its the innocent man in the street that suffers most.
they dont want trouble in their lives but its the few that do that cause the problem.
i can be certain that even the majority of the fighting men dont really want to be involved either but as its their job choice in better times they have no option.
anyway...religious fanatics are the root of all evil so religion and evil are one and the same.

Couldn't agree more with the point highlighted, but what i've always failed to come to terms with is the Irish obsession to hold parades which seem to have no other purpose other than to 'bait' and antagonize the 'opposition'.
Even funerals get turned into a circus with throngs of people marching along waving banners and banging their drums, accompanied by the obligatory shaven headed thugs who walk with an imaginary barrel between their legs and under each arm.
Why cannot the Catholic and Protestant in Ireland live side by side, next door neighbours, as they do here in England? If they both really hate the trouble so much.....then why don't they do something about it?

I do know what you mean Pappajohn, but 'religion' is not 'God'.
It is the institutionalized system grounded in the belief of God which causes all the problems. It is the fundamentalist extremist 'believers' who create all the problems, and yes, I do accept that 99.9% of all wars and conflicts were due to religious differences.
In good old Great Britain these days, we commonly make the mistake of blaming Muslims for all the blood shed and hatred round the world, when there are as many Christians, and other faiths creating mayhem. In simple I totally believe in a multi-faith system, and 99% of all believers or non-believers are good people, true, caring, loving human beings. It is the 1% that cause the friction and trouble and give God a bad name.
And just before I go...Those are simply my beliefs Pappajohn. Just incase anyone feels different I am not knocking your thoughts.
Peace to all
