Default New Smart CDI nightmare

Hi, in July we decided to go with the scrap deal, and get rid of our old toad, ( well we thought it only cost us £600 and we have had it 18 months and they want to give us £2000 for it ) so the next thing is what shall we get...................... a Smart cdi the new diesel no road tax and about 85 mpg ordered it we cant go wrong.

Then phoned Car a tow to have my A Frame fitted on it, How much £463 just for the bit
on the front and the electrics The very same day I read on here that one of the Funsters has blow his up towing it on an A Frame.

So we put the A Frame on Ebay and brought a new Trailer.

Been away 2 months in Germany, every time we saw a Smart, we could not wait to get home to pick it up, we had arranged to collect the day after we got back.

Anyway picked it up in Norwich, Jane got a big bunch of flower's hand over was good, more than I can say for the shower at Newark when we brought the Motorhome.

We head off home and if was getting slower and slower, mind you we do live 25 miles from Norwich, by the time we got home it was doing 40mph, I rang them up........and at first they wanted to send an AA Man OUT after a few words and telling them what they were going to do, they brought another car out and took our new car away with 31 miles on the clock.

They fixed the car after a while, it was said it was the vacuum pipe to the ECR, but as it's not a good start in life for something to get RED HOT and might have cracked head or pistons we decided not to have it.

The dealer has been wonderful and could not do enough, we still have the loan car they could get another Diesel for mid December in the same spec.

But they said it would be the 2010 model with more BHP same engine tuned up.

But we are put off the Diesel now, so we cant help save the earth......................and we will a PETROL. Bob.

Hi Bob and Jane

Sorry to hear about the Smart.

But I bet your pleased with the Hyundai i10, I am delighted with it.
It just mean Neil and I have something else to fight over

I am sure you have done the right thing in rejecting the Diesel Smart.

Pat

Hi Dane, we cant afford to take the car it's another £5.00 a night................ we will have the bikes with us. We find it more Fun and I know Hazel likes her bike. We have the tent in the van ( And thats EXTRA) But they do have a Bar on site, we will have to see how much they charge, might have to sneak a bottle of vodka in.................................

Hi Pat, love the i10 done 280 miles now. I was a bit disappointed because I never got any flowers with it, I got an Indian Takeaway with it.....................................He jumped out the boot when I opened it. Bob.

Hiya Bob
The folks at Norwich are excellent and there is a guy not a million miles from you who is a total Smarty expert.. Worked with them for donkeys years !!

Hope you will be able to make the Smarty meetings over at Cambridge sometime
The meeting is the second Monday of the month.. We meet at the Milton roundabout Tesco's at about 7pm, have a bit of a waffle then off for a meal at a pub about 5 miles away.

Good bunch of people and a good social night out !

Here is a link for you with more info:

Hi Peter, thats what we thought best have a trailer, we had our A Frame for 18 months and loved it, but when we decided on the Smart and saw this:

The day I phoned for a price to fit my A Frame on it, It put us off a bit. Bob.
