Mobile phone directory
This is not a scam!!
received an E-mail from my step daughter today regarding a new mobile phone directory.
below is an extract from the email and a link to the BBC website and a link to un-subscribe from the directory.
please read it thoroughly and if neccessary go to the BBC website then decide if you want to remain on the database or un-subscribe from it.
if the links dont work just copy and paste the url's.
Maybe you have heard about this but early next week all UK mobiles will be on a directory which will mean that anyone will be able to access the numbers. It is easy to unsubscribe but it must be done before the beginning of next week to make sure that you are ex directory. We have all unsubscribed and you may want to suggest it to all your friends and family who have
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/8091621.stm
Double checked it wasn't a scam and it is actually on the BBC website recommending to do this.
The Directory of Mobile Phone numbers goes live next week.
All numbers including those belonging to children will be open to cold calling and the general abuse that less scrupulous telesales people subject us too.
To remove your number go here. (you need your mobile phone with you to do this, they text you a code)
http://www.118800.co.uk/removeme/remove-me.html
You can remove your number from this list, and tell all your friends - especially those with children who have mobile phones.

Tried twice and still waiting for the code.
Despite their assurances about not selling on your info and not giving your number to anyone I don't want them ringing me either when I am abroad - It costs me a fortune!

A UK company called Connectivity The only directory with millions of mobile numbers - 118800 has recently purchased details of over 16 million UK mobile phone numbers – which accounts for around 40 per cent of those in regular use.
The mobile numbers are purchased from brokers, who in turn have purchased personal details from market research firms and online stores. No mention is made as to whether the major operators i.e. 02, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile to name a few have participated in handing over your valuable personal details.
