Well earlier in the month took my RV to Redvers based in Swindon and found them to provide a first class all round service.
They till now have specialised in limousines on the mechanical and body side of them so know only to well about big awkward American vehicles but delight in them so our RV's presents no problems to them.
My RV is particularly tall but fitted in their workshop with ease and over their 40 foot pit (yes you heard it right 40 foot pit)
On the MOT side I found the to be understanding, firm but fair.
They cover all vehicle MOT wise except motorcycles but I believe they may even be taking them on next.
I would recommend then to anyone

Hi Brian
Thought you were Brownhills customers. Have heard of discover leisure but had no dealings with them, still half pence shares may be worth a punt. Maybe they will succumb to a management buyout like Brownhills. What's with the caring duties? I have my Dad in a care home , he's 94. looked after him at home for too many years to remember since mam died. Now he has dementia so needs full time care, I mean he's OK but short on memory, hearing and vision, (cataracts)
Meanwhile, we're back from Brownhills, here's the latest.
Dometic winter fridge vent covers.
Purchased 2 covers for the external vents. they simply clip on and are fixed using plastic turn-screws.
Dometic ltd
WINTER COVER FOR VENTILATOR KIT- L100 + L200
Part no 2906101 - 00 white
Part no 2906101 - 01 cream
bought the white ones. about £25.00 inc 10% club discount.
Seals
"Discoloration within normal boundaries" . Will speak to Swift customer services on Monday. Swift told Brownhills they will deal directly with me.
We also discovered water penetration through the rear habitation corner. Brownhills have inspected it and awaiting permission from Swift to perform rectification work . They found a screw head misaligned.
All in all a whole day wasted again , think we'll just take up residence, but can't fault the girls on service who have to take the brunt of disgruntled customers comments. Will get them big box of choccies for Christmas.
you and Anne booked London yet? To answer your question, only know London from Working there in the past, used to survey for national window company and of course been a few times as tourists, hotels and stuff.
We've booked P&O ferry Portsmouth to Bilbao leaving next March, £300 inc outside cabin 2 nights. Checked Spain diesel price about 1.04 euros litre. 78p in Gibraltar.
Thinking of buying euros now, news says the value is expected to drop below £1.00 / 1 euro
Remarkable even though we've always stayed out of debt , we are still caught up in the Nu-Labs financial mismanagement, hand-outs and cock-ups.
As for the diesel price here, suppose it's the effects of Brown's "indirect" excessive taxation. Do transport companies buy their fuel at reduced rates?
Just watched Casino Royale, brilliant film on the edge of my seat, one part made me jump so much, i spilled tea all over. told you I'm accident prone.
Best regards,
get that bus pass mate, it's not much but at least you feel as though you are getting something back from the robbing b............s

Hi Trev.
Thanks for that very comprehensive message.
It is good timing as Anne and I were thinking about booking one of these mini-breaks to London and St. Pauls was to be on the agenda, not any more, Harrods instead me thinks..
The option of taking the motor caravan doesn't come in to it as we live 280 miles away and it just wouldn't be viable, when I consider the fuel cost.
Talking of which.. Can you explain to me why the differential between the price of diesel and petrol has widened to 16p a litre. I thought 11 p was bad enough considering the margin was only 2p not so very long ago.
I am surprised that nothing has been made of it in the papers and I would have thought the transport industry would have latched on to what amounts to a con...Car wise it seems hardly worth buying a diesel nowadays given that the latter is more expensive in the first place.
Going back to your description of London..are you a regular visitor to the city?
I used to spend a great deal of time there when I worked in British Airways but haven,t been back since 1992.
The bus pass sounds a good idea!!! I must accept my lot and make an effort to get one..Kidding myself is not fooling anyone else.
Today we called at DISCOVER just to see how they were doing, that is one of their branches not far from us.
The place had been fully modernised and changed about quite a bit and looked 100 percent better than the last time I visited. They stock the Bessacarr version of our 580 along with all the other equivalents of the Swift range.
They had a Brownhills Suntor in stock, virtually brand new so I guess someone wasn't as content as I am with the product.
Discover is listed on the AIM ( the stock market just had to crop up again) and I noticed their shares had plummeted as low as half a penny. It must be very worrying for any company these days and I guess the top end of the leisure market cannot escape from the recession.
Tomorrow should be an interesting day for Brown and Co. Heaven help us if it doesn't work and the market recoil from the level of borrowing.
I will finish up living in the motor-caravan and giving up the house. Shouldn't jest.
Well Trev. I have to head off on one of my carer call-outs but wanted to say a big Thank You for sharing the events of your recent trip away from home.
Keep in touch and we will compare notes.
Incidentally I could not find any fridge covers with the Suntor, and, having just faced 2 degress below last night I will just leave it be for the Winter. I don't think any harm will come to the fridge says he.
Let me know how you get on with the new sealant, although, having explained about the "sawdust, I am probably doomed....
Neighbours, as you rightly point out, can be contrary ( to be polite).
Take care for now.

thanks for your name, guessed Rotherfield was probably your surname but couldn't find your name in your profile.
Firstly, we are back from the latest travels to London Crystal Palace and France Calais.
London was great although a little quiet, works better that way for pat and me. Can recommend the caravan club Crystal palace site. Set on the edge of a Forested Park, perfectly peacefull after a Day in London. The bus service is excellent, about 15 minutes to the bus station. Used my over 60's pass and pat paid £5.00 a day for an unlimited pass from the newsagents opposite the bus station. the journey in to London takes about 50 minutes, but you do feel in the minority group. Maybe we should request special rights.
Once in london Things change dramatically, we now know where all our Police are. they are all in Central London. We loved going to Harrods , a truly fascinating experience. the staff are so polite and welcoming, amazing. Travelled to the Millenium wheel for a arial sightseeing. perfect weather for it. The staff had to check over each pod for explosives as they came round.
Made it St Pauls cathedral, last went there with a good mate in the sixties. how things change, they now want £10 entrance per person to go in. so decided to have a Starbucks and head back to piccadilly circus.
We were lucky with the weather, sailed from Calais to Dover on late Thursday night. We had arrived early in the day so headed for Folkstone harbour to look for parking for the day. Found a great place to park ,roadside overlooking the channel. Had a fantastic sunset view over the beach and out to sea. Decided to move off when a car turned up and started racing around the car park, squealling tyres and handbrake skids. More cars appeared along with the younsgsters so decided best to move on.
On arriving at Calais at 12.00 midnight we headed straight for the overnight aire Portside. Didn't realise until we pulled up and filled with fresh waqter how strong the winds were (galeforce and freezing cold) . pulled in to the parking bay and hunkered down for the night with hot coffee and a large brandy. There is no electric on the Calais aire so read our books and listened to the howling gales . Imagine my surprise the following morning to find someone had placed a note under the wiper blade. The note was a complaint OUR racket created . To this date can't understand where they were coming from with this, said we kept them awake, think they were maybe blaming us for the weather.
made a visit to city europe on the Friday, bought 9 cases of wine and filled with diesel at Auchan, 1.06 euros/litre. Believe one of the reasons for diesel being more expensive than petrol in the uk is that after lobbying the motor manufacturers to produce more diesel powered vehicles, a new tax of 7 pence was added to the price of deisel. my brother lives in laguna beach California, petrol prices there are now about £1.00 a gallon.
Went back to the aire for the remainder of the day, still howling winds and occasional rain. Sailed at 5 pm and got home at 11 pm. Market Warsop, North Notts.
The motorhome is in Brownhills at newark next week for the seals, we are staying overnight on their free aire. They have made a few improvements , members can now book the overnight online and the swimming pool and sauna are open on request. They,ve also made improvements to the Bistro with comfortable seating settees to take your coffee.
We were told on our Swift factory about the reduncancies, actually thinking about it they were on a short working week and only had one production line running. sounds like they have had to make more drastic measures. It's a real shame, they are big employers in this region.
Your neighbour sounds similar to mine. we live on a private gated development of 5 new "cottages". We have clause in the covenant banning caravans , although no one has said anything direct we get the "indirect" comments of things like "are you going away or just taking it back to the storage?"
As for interest rates, seems like savers have lost out again big time. How can people be encouraged to save when what little interest we get, a large chunk is taken in tax?
tried the stock market option, lost most of savings after 9/11. Fortunately hung on after a very stressfull period and managed to recoup most of the stock price last year before the newest crash.
Anyway thats my ramblings over for the day, enjoy your weekend
cheers

Hi Trev,
Thanks for getting back to me.
You sound like you are in my league when it comes to being "accident prone".
We men never learn but it is one way to get a bit of TLC.
Hearing about the sealant discolouring has made me wary so I went out to have a close inspectiion on Saturday.
My neighbour was having a tree cut down in his front garden which was being instantly shredded by the guy doing the job. The object was to catch the sawdust and small off cuts in a hopper which under normal circumstances would have worked. However due to a very strong wind - you know what's coming - I or to be more accurate, the motor caravan, received about 20% of the shreddings.
Don't ask me how but they stuck to every part of the M/C including ( hence the tale) the sealant. It is now impregnated with sawdust. The neighbour had conveniently moved his jaquar to the end of the Cul De sac but as he thinks M/C's are "pants" ( even if they cost as much as his car) he declined to give me the same option.
The control panel on the 2008 model is, I think I mentioned the simplistic version, without the option to programme the heating.
Therefore it does not have a reset button and requires taking the back off to pull the plug so to speak/.
You seem to enjoy your trips abroad>
How far away are you from Dover?. Sounds like Calais is a good place to collect "the goodies".
I once went there from FGolkstone and visited City Europe but as it was a coach trip there wasn't an opportunity for over spending as you were limited to what you could carry on the coach.
I envy you planning your your 2009 trip abroad. It was always half the fun the organizing and considering the options.
Providing the interest on savaings doesn't vanish altogether I would like to think Anne and I will make better use of the motor caravan next year. We hardly seemed to have justified it's purchase having only taken one fortnight break and a couple of long week-ends but 2009 will be better. At least fuel will be cheaper although I notice the gap between diesel and petrol continues to grow.
No one has been able to me why that is the case but I suspect it is another ploy by the oil companies to "fleece the motorist". It was always the case that diesel was the cheaper option but not any more.
Incidentally I have just heard SWIFT have laid off 350 staff... I suspect it will only get worse in 2009!!!
Right I will leave you in peace and hope your busy week lived up to your expectations.
Brian ( Rotherfield is my user name).
Cheers

Thyanks, yes I received your last email, sorry meant to acknowledge it.
Why didn't brownhills reset the panel for you? Thanks for the info it's really useful especially if we are touring europe. Mind you, seem to remember your control panel is the new updated model, sounds like they should have put a reset/reboot switch on the panel.
We are off to London crystal palace cc club on Monday, then over to france for a few cases of the red stuff. We're sailing from Dover to Calais ,arriving at midnightish ,spend the night on the Calais Aire, watch the boats come and go.
We'll be shopping at City Europe, a huge complex just outside Calais. Usually find carrefour to have the best bargains, Tesco have a supermarket in the complex, devoted to wine and spirit sales.
Planning our next years itinary at the moment , and working on photo uploads of our last tour of France/Spain. Posted the itinary and had loads of replies , been asked to include photos.
was going to use the free web space from TalkTalk, but seems imposible to upload , tried several Ftp programs to no avail.
Keep in touch, where's your next travels?

Hi Trev.
Don't know whether you ever got my message but did not want you to think I had ignored your last message.
Just had to phone Brownhills.... The step stuck half way down and all the electrics just disappeared.
Apparnetly ( and I have done it) you have to reset the control panel.
It is not too difficult to do - just means disconnecting the supply at the back of the panel, waiting 20 seconds and reconnecting.
Just glad it did not happen when I was away or I would have been "goosed".
Hope your M/C is going well.
Cheers.
