I get to keep my job, which depends on the european market.Prices may come down if there is no currency difference (an end to rip-off Britain?????). If prices do not come down then I would be able to purchase a motorhome in Europe without all the hassle of currency exchange!

I think I would say pro-EU rather than pro-Euro. In the long term I would hope for stability.

We saw just over 15 years ago (Black Wednesday) what acting half-heartedly results in by tying Sterling to the ERM without having the ability to control the ERM as much as (at the time) Germany. We are now seeing problems again (Northern Rock, Scottish Equitable etc), resulting from the policy of basing economic growth on risky financial gambling rather than a solid and sustainable basis.

In both cases the UK has suffered at the hands of speculators who are just out to make money for themselves.

Whether we like it or not, in the modern world the UK is too small to survive alone so we need to work with Europe as a full partner with a right to a full say - giving us the ability to participate in developing policies which will benefit the UK as well as the rest of Europe.

That is not to say that we have to accept illegal immigration or people coming to this country to take what they can get rather than making a positive contribution (which has to be welcome in any society). EU directives include the ability for individual countries to use derogation to tailor the implementation of the directives to national traditions and it is those powers that our government needs to use.

I don't wish to be controversial but you should never give the man in the street a referendum. He knows virtually nothing about the proposed subject. Think about it. How much do you really know about the EU. Most people don't even know how many countries are in it, yet alone how it all works. They just vote for their personal benefit not for the good of the country as a whole. We elect MPs to act on our behalf and that is how it should be. For what it's worth, I would vote for it.

Most MPs don't care to much for the country but just there own betterment.

Well this subject brings people out with positive views for and against....about 2 to 1 against at the moment. The EU and the Euro are two separate issues but increasingly they will become one. It was interesting to see posters calling for Switzerland to join the Euro when we were there.

The UK needs the EU and the EU needs the UK; it is a shame our politicians don't paint a more positive picture of membership.

Hi

Most MPs don't care to much for the country but just there own betterment

an interesting comment and based on what knowledge I wonder.

I also wonder why something like 99% of posters on forums say they want to move to Europe, Spain, France for example and they say they do not want The Uk to be part of it.

Money is simply an aid to transaction so for me the Euro makes a lot of sense.

Jacken - very sensible comment I think
