Hi, I agree that UK governments have taken advantage of the terrorist threat to introduce some very dubious legislation, but I don't think they have promoted it, unless they thought it would increase their standing in the polls.

Most of the scaremongering has been done by the rags, in an effort to increase circulation. I personally believe that the majority of people simply want to live in peace, but the majority of world/religious leaders want money, power and to leave their mark on history.

Moving abroad isn't an option with us, because of family ties. And inspite of all the crap that goes on here, its home. So 3-4 months touring and then home for a similar time is what we are aiming for.

What language did you use in Lybia French? or is English spoken.

Olley

In Libya many spoke good English, but French was useful and we had some Germans with us so we coped quite well. The one problem is if you have a visa for more than 5 days you have to have a Libyan guide (Government Official) with you so when there were problems he got involved. But he never came with us to shops or when we walked anywhere. If the visa is less than 5 days you just don't have time to stop if your going from Tunisia to Egypt as we did. Having said that with our visa we could go everywhere.

total agreement olley,
we've done france, andorra and spain and we've seen more of these countries than any tourist jumping on a big silver bird and jumping off at the other end could ever hope to see, and for about the same money.
how many 'tourists' have seen the beauty of the tarn gorge, the massif centrale or andorra la ville and the pyrannees.

I got fed up counting at 21, what the hell does it matter how many countries we have been to with a motor home? We have done this travelling with different vehicles, our 5th wheel has not been abroard with us. Does 7 years with a caravan and Land Rover in Australia count?.
Olley I agree with you about enjoying the country being more important than the no. visited.
Jim we would love to visit Maroc. with you, I think your trip will be a blast. We plan to go again but we may be too comitted to do it this year, although we should escape our ties by the Autumn.
Like you Jim, if money was never an issue we would possibly have visited every country. It's the people that make the Country and travelling sooooo good, the poorer the people are, the more freely they give their heart and soul and anything they can share.
Enjoy travelling wherever it is,
Nigel

Hi hagnap they sound the same Susan hates the dartford tunnel, she cringes everytime we go under it, and living in Suffolk thats quite a few. Mind you it doesn't stop her going to Bluewater.

When we went to Italy a couple of years ago I didn't mention the tunnels in Switzerland, if I remember one was 17km long.

Hi 2escapies my post about wanting to see more of the countries, wasn't a put down, from other posts it would appear it sounded that way. Sorry.

Which way are you going through France. We live in the Loire valley if you're coming this way.

Beat this!

In the 3 years we have owned this motorhome we have visited one (list to follow) other country.

(North Wales doesn't count as it's a suburb of Liverpool )

For us, the important aspect of motorhoming is spending time together - if we could visit Bogota or Santa Cruz or Rhyl as cheaply, maybe we would, but we can spend a couple of months in France for less than it would cost us to stay at home and we have so much time to relax and talk and discover and get on with the important business of living together.

Why spend 150 hours driving when you could spend 150 hours just playing?

It works for us!
