Default Guns....Yes, No or Leave Well Alone??

There are a couple of threads regarding guns running at the moment.

I personally think they are better off locked up in a gun club in a vault of some kind.

What are your views??

1. Ban them in all their forms (firearm & airgun) completely.
2. Lock them up at shooting ranges or similar.
3. Leave the laws as they are.
4. Gun laws should be relaxed and we should adopt the USA style of gun law.
5. Farmers Stay As They Are But Everyone Else Should Use Another Choice As Above

When did banning anything ever do any good? we should use laws to punish offenders, not legislation to punish everyone. So we banned handguns- what good has that done? Zilch, we have more illegal weapons now than ever; tens of thousands were robbed of a sport that they enjoyed and thousands lost their livelihood with little or no compensation. And for what?

I have been shooting most of my life...and the wife ( who may I say is excellent with the shotgun on clays)

Leave the laws as they are.

1 I have shot on many clay shoots (also as the wife) at organised sites
Also with the police clay club (when the wife won there trophy)on a regular
Basis and a few competitions shoots.
2 We still have our the shot gun licence/Permits
3 We have always lived in the sticks / villages, on country land.
4 we have always kept to the LAW...our gun cabinet was checked every year by
The police while we were in England.
5 We sold all our shotguns and equipment when we moved to France...but we
Still own a low powered air rifle....this is for any wild rats, (when living near
Farms it is the norm, rats)
I prefer to shoot rats on my land as they carry decease, (I once lost a
Collie dog to Jaundice due to a rat bite) I do not like putting
Poison down as is not the solution when other animals could eat the dead rat or
Get at the poison. ....although it is very rare that I use the air rifle, in fact in the
Last 5 years + ...it has been zero use, but it is still locked away in the gun
Cabinet two 7 lever locks and very heavy gauge metal.

You will find people in the country live with guns...so the children are brought up to understand the gun, to look after the guns, clean the gun and to respect the gun, any body in or around a farm / estates on shoots never have a loaded gun it will always be broken so other people can see the inside (no cartridge).

It is not the law .......that is the problem.......and it is not the people that abide by the law.

I can not understand why people would want to bring a gun on holiday.....I always thought
A holiday was to relax...chill out.....Remove the Germans towels off the sun beds.....
GUNS !!!!!!!! That is a no on holiday

I can understand Laneside...but guns is not the answer.....maybe on a Island (shark infested) (because that is what they are animals) with no way of getting off, where there can live with each other, yobs, villains, and grow there own food have a water supply.......they would not live long as they would not want to work to grow food for themselves.......or put them on the front line in front of our forces....if that is what they want to fight or be unsociable.

I also Agree with JIM….When did banning anything ever do any good?, we should use laws to punish offenders, not legislation to punish everyone.

Banning the ownership of a firearm has not made bit of difference as far as the criminal fraternity are concerned, all it has done is persecute the law abiding firearm owner(s).
It seems the only way that authorities can see to controlling something is to put a blanket ban on it thus penalising the law abiding members of the community, ie the Scottish goverments attempt to stop binge drinking is to put up the price of alcohol, thus penalising the sensible drinkers in society.

I personally think they should ban anything over 3.5ltrs because I have a 3.2 , and no pick ups unless you have a certificate for use on a building site ,oh and only the Fire Dept should have a red vehicle .But then again I wouldn't want to spoil your enjoyment
