Hi,
Wasn't the chap who shot the trespasser a few years ago a farmer, as while i can understand the farmers need for pest control, i must admit I do think that there perhaps needs to be closer monitoring of anyone licenced to carry or own a fire arm, from what i can see this appears to be left a lot to discretion.

This is the point that us legal shooters are trying to make
We are subject to licencing and we are inspected by the police every time we renew our certificate and they look carefully at your gun cabinet and household security.
If we leave our house for more than I think it is a two week period we have to log our guns with a licence holder with suitable security or log them into the local police station
IT IS THE ILLEGAL GUNS IN THE HANDS OF IDIOTS THAT ARE THE PROBLEM
IF we were all to take the same stand and ban things that THE INDIVIDUAL does not agree with where we be.
I do not agree with the inordinate time spent policing footgall matches--ban them
Careless drivers that cause accidents-- ban them
Town centre drinking-- ban it
Cars are extremely dangeous in the wrong hands --ban them
The list could go on and every reader could had several more until we have to spend all day in bed
Cheers Alan

However you will notice i specifically said LOCKED UP IN A VAULT, like a bank vault. Everyone knows there are millions of pounds in bank vaults but how often do they get broken into??
I rest my case for the defence!!!!

BUT, yr onner -
The vast majority of clubs are run by small (fewer than the thousands of members required to stump up for a safe suitable for keeping millions of quid secure) groups of like minded enthusiasts. Unless of course my honorable friend knows where one can purchase an uncrackable vault for less than a thousand quid - presumably from the back of a lorry. Those things cost tens of thousands. The club I'm in has never had more than about 50 members and that includes the students that we tutor on Wednesday afternoons and neither of the small bore clubs I was in had many if any more. And even in Bunny down by the docks had a knocked off one going cheap it would still need to be set in reinforced concrete and the owners of the premises would take a very dim view of that - to say nothing of the local councils.
Defence will be expected to pay costs for this exchange, I presume.
John
