I'm sure it's just one big scam.

They say "your no claim is protected" OK.

You pay £500 and get 50% off = 250.

You crash.

Your renewal premium is £700 less protected NCB 50% = £350.

Get the picture. The NCB is protected, they say nowt about the premium.

Of course I may be wrong.

Not in our experience. We always have protected no claims and had to make a claim on our motorhome insurance in 2008 due to it being vandalised whilst on holiday in Holland, £2,400 total cost, less our £150 excess. When the renewal came through we thought it would be horrendous but had only gone up a few quid! I would say protect it, if we hadn't I think we'd have been looking at a much higher renewal.

Hi,

Totally agree with Brian is not a protected Premium, albeit if the price is right i do opt for the protected bonus, have you tried NFU they are always worth a try, and you don't need to be a farmer 0800 316 4661 or have a look at the link below,

If I couldn't get better than what you have been quoted I think i would keep the £160 in my pocket, but I wouldn't give up trying just yet as i think with a bit or ringing around etc. and the internet you hopefully can get that down quiet a bit, Best of luck

got to weigh up the pro's and con's.

if you have a claim and arent protected you may lose 20% NCB

is the lost 20% less than the cost of protecting NCB...i doubt it.
mine is/was £13 extra to protect full NCB.

but as Brian said...the premium will increase even if your NCB is protected.

an example is windscreen cover...claims dont affect NCB on fully comp...
my excess was £50 (post office) on my corsa.
made a claim for a new screen and at renewal it had gone up to £75 excess.

you dont get owt for nowt.

Doesn't that tell you what sticking with them so long meant to them?

Shop around, go to a recommended one that does a better quote. I don't know what Frank Pickles are like for claims, but their insurance is pocket money!
