Saw an advert on the telly for one of them part works, you know the one where you buy a magazine with naff all in it and something on the cover to complete the collection. Anyway this advert was for a Zippo collection with the first one on sale at £4.99. I don't know if this is a good price or not

You probably know this already Jaws, but there's a hell of a lot of Zippo-style lighters on eBay, being sold by those who don't recognise a real one when they see it. Are you after the genuine article?

I used to practise the trick of flicking thumb and forefinger next to the spark wheel to light it, got quite good at it eventually, sad I know but had to do something to pass away the boring night shift hours.

Interestingly, they have a lifetime guarantee .. and I tested this.. I had one with the Scottish Flag that had a broken spring..I returned it Zippo at Bradford PA USA, they sent me back an identical new model.. which I have since had stolen..

I used to get them when I worked offshore in the 80s from the Americans, but lost most of them ..

I started another collection but haven't added to it since I quit smoking..odd really, as I didn't collect to use..

John Lewis- President United Mine Workers Of America .. 'probably' my most valuable.

The Right To Keep and Bear Arms , another quite rare and valuable one.

This was Jan's lighter she used when smoking

The two I used when smoking... An Armour model and an all Brass model .. very well used.

I had one given out by NASA .. I got it from a USAF pilot who had been in the program back in the 70's.. No idea why NASA would have them done as they are not really linked with healthy living are they !!
Sadly it went along with the other few I had.. as to WHERE they went ? Absolutely NO idea.
