Anyone know of any Aires nearby the Menin Gate or places to stop over.

I know there are two camp sites in the town.

Thanks.

I,ve seen on this forum that there is an aire down the side of the river opposite the fort ehich is not far away from the Menin Gate.

If you google menin gate and go to maps you can see it on Leopold III laan..

Camping Caravaning now 5'ering 49 years
We went over for a week last October and stayed at Camping Jeugdstadion Ieper - a council run campsite - would not say it was the best but certainly adequate - easy walking into Ypres and easy to tour all the location you would normally want to go to

Aug 09 to date 9,000 miles!
We had been told there is an Aire at the Stadium, so we found the Stadium and the carpark was completely cordoned off for resurfacing. At that time - the campsite mentioned above was also closed. So we've had one very swift visit to Ypres (it's very pleasant indeed but not huge by any stretch) and didn't stay for the ceremony so we will be back sometime.

Please let us know how you get on for future ref!

I think that there is a motorcaravan part of Camping Jeugdstadion Ieper that is open all year.

There is room all year round for 18 camping cars on the camping car site. The places are organised in groups of three and are 4 m wide and 9.5 m long. Each place has its own electricity outlet (10amp). At the site entrance there is a service point where you can draw water and discharge waste water. There is also a container park with containers for glass, PMD, paper and residual waste. The sanitary building is equipped with a chemical toilet.

The cost is 12 euros per night and is bookable on line.
