Last weekend we stayed at Fussen in Bavaria. It was Brian Hildwellers fault. I had posted about visiting a fairy tale castle in the Mosel and he said "you want fairy tale? You gotta go to Fussen!"
We arrived in fog and then got snowed in for two days but then the sun did come out and we visited Neuschwanstein which form the publicity photos looks just like the place they filmed Chitty Chitty bang bang.
Sadly half of it was covered in scaffolding for repairs but we set off uphill in freezing temperatures nevertheless.
Bear in mind that Gwen was loaded with cold and not feeling her usual cheerful self. When we arrived her weary comment was: "well it looks canny from a distance but why man when you get close it looks like it built out of breeze blocks!"
You just can't Please some people.
