bill, you can just download the ftr files if thats all you need.
or you could download the maps complete.

I have just bought an XGody DY no number to it, having read all the comments I'm now reluctant to even charge it up. What are these ftr files mentioned in this thread? Do I have to connect it to my computer at all, I don't motor abroad at all, does anyone have experience of how it copes with our ever changing uk roads? Can thickoes' like me have a hope in h... of using it?

The ftr files are the ones you need if you want the routing info for large vehicles, i.e. lorries or motorhomes which is why most of us bought them. The Chinese satnavs use pirated software, allegedly, and don't or can't supply updates so you have to rely on outdated maps. I haven't re-read the thread but you will have seen ianandkath have uploaded ftr files for Funsters to download. I too shall have a look at them when I check mine before setting off for Norway in May as I seem to remember I'm still on 2014 files.

if you join the facebook group you can download up to date maps

@TheBig1. Isn't it a great resource John? I am currently using 2017 Q2 maps, although Q3 are available.
I tend to update ours once a year.
