1994 and beyond...
All the posts re the water in scuttles etc prompted me to check mine over -it was sunnier today so had the bonnet up.In my Fiat 130 there is a 25mm dia. (at least) drain hole in the windscreen wiper arm well, with a drain tube that runs through the side of the wheel arch. The drain is located on the offside of the scuttle bottom.

just in case anyone else wondered if the lack of drainage encountered was for all Fiat engines(y)

What year, build date pleasa...…a link to all the bits would be helpful :)

Ignore that! Note to self....read threads properly:(

There are always some retired BANK managers about, to gloat over us mortals. I hope you and your two scuttle drains are very happy ! :moon2::moon2:

I am now I've unblocked one , just squeezed it and water ran away . will check it for leaves if it fills up again .
p.s. I'm not retired and I'm not a banker ( I said banker ! )

Oh well LIKE A BANKER !
Today was round at my golfing partner who has a newer van than mine and was showing him the mod that I was doing, He has two drains too, one smaller than the other though, anyway I squeezed his larger pipe and it fell off in my hand and we discovered it has a split. There was nothing holding the pipe onto the scuttle either so technically I had a superior moment , asking what else is not properly fixed together
Check your joint/mid point. He had a gap he didn't realise he had, easy fix, splodge of sealant.

It has a joint in middle that was dripping and when separated had a leaf in it , so will keep an eye on it .

will be fixing

Andy I am going to sink a 17mm drill into a lump of wood then try knocking the 16mm Starlock washers onto the shank using a socket to see if I can loose them out a bit and then see if I can hand push them onto the nozzles. Will let you know how I get on :)

It's very easy to remove the scuttles. Only special tool is wiper arm puller.

Andy, gave up on the star washer, good idea if you have your scuttle off.
I used this 20mm pipe insert which fits neatly onto a washing machine flexi 1.5m discharge pipe. A drop of sealant and job dun :)

Do you think this problem will still exist of the 2015 Peugeot/Fiat models?

It should be ok and it looks like a 1 piece scuttle from picture.

John.

That's what I though, hope they have finally sorted the problem. I'm going to view the MH tomorrow, so will have a good look see.

Brian , the wide bore drain has a joint ( next to the yellow brake fluid reservoir ) . mine was dripping from here as it was blocked by a leaf , the water was sat in the scuttle not draining away ! . just something to keep an eye on ! .

Colin .

Thanks, I've blown the original picture up and I think I see it now. I'll have a good look at it tomorrow.

One problem solved (hopefully). Now I hear of problems with instrument clusters on the 2015 models, at least these seemed to be getting changed without to much hassle. No such thing as the perfect 'van I suppose.

Twofold as I understand it. The gear indicator says to change up when already in 6th gear and only doing low revs. No great problem and most just seem to ignore it.

More importantly, are various warning lights coming on for no reason. At first with an almost unnoticeable dim glow, then getting brighter after some time.

The cluster was changed on each occasion (three that I have read about).

Thanks Brian , the change up indicator helped me as the engine is so smooth and quiet I was over revving it . if it tells me to change up past 6th I'll know to ignore it !

Just back. The scuttle now seems well sorted. As you say keep an eye on the drain hole, keep the van level and all should be good.

Plenty of power in the 130hp engine, pulled very well, even when I set off in third on one occasion

Couldn't for the life of me find the engine battery????
