Wonderful Alsace (1 Viewer)

What a stunning location, after arriving on a beautiful canalside Aire at Charmes and doing a fab 64km ride to Epinal we ended up staying 3 days instead of 1. Yesterday we drove just across the German border to Kehl and then cycled back in to France to visit Strasbourg. Stunning city well worth a visit. Today we drove back in to France to Chatenois in the Alsace region. What an incredibly beautiful area. We cycled all the way to the top of Haut-Koenigsbourg to the chateau. A 10km climb that was probably not best done in 30° of sunshine when you've had a bottle of red the night before!! I made it though without stopping and the views were worth it. The area is so beautiful with its mountains, castles, amazing architecture and flowers adorning many of the buildings. Now to chill as we've done 40kms today and that is definitely enough!! We've got so carried away in this area that we've had to shelve Lake Constance until next time . Tomorrow we are heading to a free Aire on a vineyard what is not to love!!

We did that on a previous trip and cycled in to Colmar. Absolutely loved it

Spent two weeks near Gerademer back in 2012 when we had a caravan beautiful area,good views from the top of the Grand Ballon as well

Well done, glad you enjoyed the ride and the views - good on the way down as well. We are now at Des Trois Chateaux site at Eguisheim, much nicer than Ribeauville in our opinion. Lots of English here, don't yet know if any are funsters.
Try visiting Bergheim if you're still in that area, very quiet and a lovely village - we chilled out twice at the bar in the main square.

May be even nearer tomorrow, we're planning on having a look at the Aire at Murbach. Either staying there or heading on over the Route Des Cretes.
