We have an A class Carthago and the near side wiper blade leaves a very large part of the windscreen uncleared. Granted I am short, but in wet weather I have an enormous blind spot from the middle of the windscreen, it is well over 25cms in the middle of the screen and nearly 45cms at the edge
I am waiting for a solution from Carthago, but I do not want to get into snowy weather before something is done. It looks like it needs a shorter wiper arm and longer blade or a better option would be a blade the is longer at the bottom than the top. A straightforward longer blade would hit the edge of the windscreen.

Any suggestions please.

I was gonna say a booster seat ( sorry ! LOL ! ) but that blade just looks completely wrong.
The arms look the same as on our Fiat X250 but we have much longer blades

That is ridiculous....

You could get a friendly engineering or welding shop to 'cut n shut' the arm to a sensible length then buy a 22"/24"/26" wiper blade.

Longer blades would foul the edge of the windscreen. As for the booster seat, I already have Kingspan under the carpet so my feet reach the floor. I am not silly small, just over five foot.
The drivers side arm is standard length, but the near side has a non remove able extension on it.

Not sure if that is aimed at my post but a longer blade won't foul the edge.
Shorten the arm and the tip of a longer blade will be in the same proximity as it is now but the lower end will be much, well, lower giving you a far greater swept area.

Have you tried doing the nut that holds wiper arm on and dropping the angle of the arm so they are both level

I have a LHD Carthago Chic and the wiper blades are fine (see pic attached).

It seems to be the RHD versions that have this cock-eyed arrangement.

Facebook page but haven't seen any comments about the inadequate wiper sweep on RHD vehicles.

Sorry about that, my mind was not in gear. I will do some measuring to see what is the best size to go to. Thanks

You COULD get an OVERlong wiper blade then carefully cut off one end so that it doesn't foul the edge of the windscreen OR catch on the other blade when they come close together.

That wiper blade looks very short to me.
Our Chic is LHD and I've just gone outside to have a look at ours and measure the blades.
Nearside blade (UK) is 66cm and off side is 56cm long.

its not so much the blade, you need a shorter arm then adjust the size of the blade to suit. cutting a wiper blade down one end will only take it out of balance

Thanks everyone.
I am taking your suggestions to the dealers next week and we shall see what they make of them. They are starting off with a new arm and a different length blade, hopefully that will sort it.

Just a thought.... the passenger side blade looks to be too short but, if you do anything to lengthen it, you could lose it's ability to wipe "round the corner" of the windscreen. Have you considered changing the driver side blade for something longer, to bridge the gap? Or would that foul the top of the windscreen?

Not long enough!
Mine's RHD Hymer. The wipers are positioned for LHD - and don't clear the drivers side very well.

Hi Tony
So is mine and after having a long hard look I have put longer wipers on the middle and right hand side but left the left hand:confused: one the same original length as it wasn't needed, works a treat, I'll put a pic up tomorrow if I remember(y)

That's exactly why I said the arm needs shortening.
5 minutes with a mig welder and angle grinder....bit longer to paint it though.

The swept area is usually the same for LHD and RHD because they don't change them. Also LH wiper is often a different size to RH. The arrangement would've been OK originally so I suggest replacing the blades.

Thanks. I've been thinking of something similar & waiting until I needed new blades - around now so a pic would be really useful (y).
