It's not the silencers but the crash bars and belly pan.

I think you'll find it's the footplate / pegs that touch down first. They were always the first things to touch down on any bike I've owned. My Pan pegs were chamfered at 45 deg both sides...............:Smile:

Your right about the pegs touching first, but they fold up then the crash bars and belly pan take the strain, I have seen bikes with damage caused this way.
