anybody suggest how I can download video from sd card onto my PC photos work fine but not video,also cant play dvd's.think I read somewhere that windows 8 does not support video?

There is a Microsoft solution but its not free, you need to upgrade to 8.1 pro and then add windows media center. Was all free with earlier versions of windows!

Otherwise vlc is a good free option.

No problem here. I just double click on a .mp4 or .avi file and it opens the Video app and plays.

True but that does not apply to DVD's unless to add the media centre or VLC.

I don't play DVDs on the laptop so I wasn't aware. Just tried it though and you're right
