    For the W10 converts .. ;)

    First tip.. which I know most 10 users will be familiar with already, but for us newbies..

    GodMode..

    GodMode is a hidden folder that makes available a range of handy customizations for your PC. The best part is that it is easy to install and not complicated.

    The hidden tweak, which not many know about, was available for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and still works for Windows 10. The GodMode feature basically offers users easy access to the innumerable features on Windows, as well as the customization options, all in a single interface. It also sorts them into categories, such as Administrative Tools and Display, to make life a lot easier.

    If you're looking to change the resolution of your monitor or alter the taskbar's notification space, it's all available at a single click thanks to GodMode.

    How to enable it.

    Basically you make a New Folder on your desktop and rename it

    GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    copy paste is best ..

    you can pin it to the start menu or move wherever you want.

    That's interesting but the problem I have with W10 is that it disables my mousepad/pointer.
    Tried all the "fixes" on the web to no avail, ended up having to re format the laptop completely & re-install W7.
    Anybody any idea if it is a "bug" which has been fixed or if it's still a problem?

    No, the problem is, if I install W10 I am unable to do anything at all as I have no way to move the pointer.
    I'm no computer buff, I know how to turn it on but that's about it.
    Having read various peoples experiences on the other W10 thread I think I'll stick with W7.
    I' presume the GodMode thing doesn't work with W7?
    Thanks anyway.

    Perhaps a usb mouse would work and you could get to the Advent support site for help... but if it were me, I'd probably just stick with W7 .. it's probably more hassle than it's worth ..

    don't think the God thing works with 7.. but it's of less use anyway as 7 is easy to find your way about

    God mode works with 7 but I can't remember the access thingy. Google will no doubt have the answer.

    Overall I like W10 (and my laptop is an old Advent - no problems with touchpad as yet) but I do get slightly annoyed when the "start button" crash happens - which seems to be a regular problem. The fix isn't that hard (use Ctrl+Alt+Del to get to a page where you can restart the PC and then keep the F2 key pressed as it restarts), just a nuisance and as the fix is on web it looks like it is a common problem.

    download depends on your broadband speed.. mine only took about 10 mins.. then another 10- 15 mins or so to install and set up.

    The first time I tried 10 I had some problems.. so rolled back to 7 .. after the big update I decided to try again... and so far it's been fine.. getting used to it and it has some nice features..

    Have used it in Win7 for ages. The folder name is exactly the same as @ScotJim noted above (ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C).

    I prefer to use either
    BillGatesSucks.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    Or

    StuffMicrosoftThinksYouAreTooDumbToHandle.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    In case you didn't know, you don't have to call it godmode :p As an atheist this would not be acceptable to me :rofl:

    Thanks.
