Window rubber treatment - stuck. (1 Viewer)

Hi All,
after several weeks with the widows tight shut I went to open all the windows with this warm, yep warm, breeze to waft through the MoHo. All the windows (double glazed side ones) were really stuck to the rubbers - got them open eventually by carefully 'easing' the rubbers off the windows.
What does everyone do to treat the rubbers to stop them sticking? I thought maybe a 'skim' of Vaselene to treat them - any good?

All advice greatly received.

yep......a little vasaline does the trick.

Also stops them freezing to the frame if closed when wet in winter.

vaseline works but you can also use talcum powder, which has no sticky residue

Silicone spray .. better than vaseline as it's not greasy ..

Halfords have one as do most DIY shops

Agree, silicon spray the best coz it's silicon rubber they use for the seals.

Kev while you are putting on some silicon with your microfibre cloth, get some Vuplex and give your windows a treat, after washing, use Vuplex - one of the best products I have ever used. :thumb:

Many Thanks all, I have cleaned them up for now and SWMBO will be getting the silicone spray.

Having spent around 40 yrs in the Double glazing and building industry using rubber seals almost every day good old LIP Balm works great with nothing to clean off after application (sprays etc)Any flavor will do
