We managed to source a 2nd hand window to replace the one that's been broken for the last 8 years.

When we picked it up, I'm sure I would've noticed that the trim at the top had shifted a quarter of an inch. Did it move while we were fitting it???

It means that the end caps which stop the window sliding horizontally won't fit.

We've tried tapping it gently with a brummagem screwdriver but it is reluctant to shift.

Short of hacksawing the overhanging bit off and gluing it on the short end, has anyone got any ideas?

Can you not 'persuade' it to move just that little bit, perhaps with silicone spray or suitable.
