Had to buy CC wifi on site in Somerset as there's no signal phone signal for the dongle. Given that it's unsecured the question is how does another user actually "see" what I'm viewing? Is it safe to view a bank account for instance or will the login details be accesible too?

I am sure there are members more knowledgeable than i, but as i understand it if you have adequate security on the device you are using then all should be ok. But, i am happy to be corrected.

Depends if the network you connect to has been setup to capture data. That's why free unsecured wifi can be a bit iffy - you don't know if it has been setup for nefarious reasons. Using the wifi on a CC site is unlikely to be any more risky than via your dongle.

Although the connection between your computer and the wifi router may not be encrypted. The link between your browser and the banks server is encrypted using SSL.

Just ensure that the padlock symbol is visible (https).

Do NOT login to any sites that don't use https. motorhomefun is an example of a site that doesn't use https for login so your fun login could easily be sniffed.

This is correct.
Many paid for hotspots do not encrypt the wifi so they are open to sniffers. But even those that do encrypt the wifi should not be regarded as having adequate security as whoever operates the servers could theoretically still monitor your transmissions. So never send anything that matters except via HTTPS - this is the safe way even from a landline! And e-mail from products such as outlook is potentially vulnerable unless you have taken steps to encrypt it, although the risks are quite small.
