Motorhome Show

We absolutely love the show. Campervan pornography. Full of inspiration and aspiration. We spend 2 days every year there. Looking at stuff we really hate as well as stuff we might buy some time. We have a really good feel for what is "out there" and trends.

Next time I will have a big funsters badge on so that you buy it from me
Well, I didn't buy it at a show & would say I'd be very unlikely to do so. Shows are great for doing research & for maybe buying a few accessories, but I'm not sure I'd want to sign up for a vehicle at one.

As it was my first time at the NEC on a stand representing a small independent dealer, it amazed me what a bunch of sharks the so called professional Motorhome salesmen are. There were some ok ones, but most of them couldn't give a sxxt about the customer or their requirements but are purely looking at lining their pockets with the commission.
All seem to be on big ego trips about how many they have DONE today.

Well I am not really that naive, but it was a confirmation of what we probably all know.

Once a firm reaches a size that the MD is no longer the owner & there is more than one level of management between the salesman & the owner, the salesman only works for one person - himself. I'm sure there must be honourable exceptions to this rule, but I have yet to come across an example.

The existing globecar customers that came on our stand all sang it praises and were over the moon with the quality of their investment. So I am sure you will have lots of fun

That's good to hear, but doesn't surprise me - I did my research fairly carefully. Not only was it the only layout that meets our needs at a price I could afford, but it appeared to be as well or better made than other vehicles at similar prices. Some of the competition appears not to have moved on in the last 30 years - something which their choice of upholstery fabric appears to confirm. :Sad:

Us too!

Cost me a bit more Scottyboy, ended up buying a Chausson best of 10 !
Lee::bigsmile:
We spent 2 whole days there researching van conversions but ended up buying a Chausson Best Of 04 coach built as couldn't fault the layout & spec, loved the garage & the deal on offer was too good to miss! New motorhome at secondhand price - can't wait! Just got to sell our caravan & towcar now... There were only a few real deals to be had at the show but it is worth going with an open mind & like us find that what suits you best when you try you might find it is not what you expected. We were able to "cool off", from the deal we were offered, overnight & bought on the Monday after the exhibition which any reputable dealer should let you do. Being at the show meant we could talk direct to Chausson not just the dealers so great for any special requests. The accessories stands were woeful as not even Riversway were there (rumours that they have ceased trading), no special prices & severe lack of gadgets. Great venue though, very well organised & lots of friendly like minded people. If anyone knows of a Chausson Owners Club or has any hints or tips on how they have modified theirs to make them even better then please let me us know.
