Yes there is a site on the Sandsend road opposite golf course its a 10 minuet walk into Whitby centre along a promanade, there is also one at the top near the Abbey but haven't been to it as it doesn't take dogs.

Google Whitby Campsites.

I know of this one that's about the nearest, might be a bit busy if it's for this weekend though. There is also a CC and a C&CC CL just on the outskirts...short walk in.

There is a c/l at the fox and rabbitt pub on the road across the moors from pickering good food (not cheap) short drive to whitby. There is a park and ride in whitby need to check the dates. Have also used the c/l at Wild Slack Farm at Leaholm a few miles inland

I just had a quick look on the c&cc temporary holiday sites app and there are 3 or 4 ths near Whitby. Might be worth joining even if the dates suit.

There is a britstop a couple of miles out of town but on the bus route
Edit Thinking about it , if you are looking at a £30 a night site, your britstop book would pay for itself in one night(y)

I think by now that @Middy42 has probably had their trip to Whitby. ..

On our 2nd MH now a AutoTrail Savannah which we're absolutely delighted with
Last year we stayed for 3 nights in the car park at the harbour for £8 per night. Only section of car park that this is allowed on is the section furthest from the town centre(Perhaps a 5 min walk so real problem) Public toilets available very close by. No problem with boy racers or anything over night and we were with at least another 8 MHs.

I second that, very convenient for the town and a nice out of the way location but at the same time within a short walk of eating/drinking places.

It would be nice if they actually allowed "overnight parking" including sleeping rather than just telling you its not allowed and then turn a blind eye.

They probably won't give official sanction for fear of the place being oversubscribed. I very much doubt you will find a parking attendant in any shape or form after say 8pm and the police certainly don't have the time, or probably the inclination to move on people who are not causing any annoyance or problem. Personally I am happy to stay overnight but its an individuals choice of course based on what thy see on arrival.

I asked the parking attendant if we could sleep overnight and he was very clear that it was permitted. To ensure there would be no problem he told us to buy our next days parking ticket by 0800 each day

Thats interesting and useful, we were there in the car a few months ago so I asked in the tourist info and she said officially NO unofficially YES we know people do.

We hyave a couple of holiday lets and there are always a few m/h in the car park. Best not to ask about sleeping there was an aire planned but turned down i would keep quiet and use the car park as indicated after all even if they get you out of bed you might not have been sleeping!!!!!!!!!;););););)

This is me in old van parked in Whitby on a nearly empty car park, parked in big bay as I had my dads mobility scooter on back put a £5 parking ticket on.
And still got a £35 parking ticket for being in wrong bay.

2 Points. The reason you cannot officially "Sleep" is because they (the Council) would then be in breach of the Regulations on Camp sites. I second the Fox and Rabbit, Excellent establishment(y) Still £15p/n inc, EHU. Having said that I have slept in many Parking Places. In the Lorry!.

Another vote for Broadings Farm. They do try to keep things quiet later in the evening which some people find a bit restricting but works for us. As per previous posts, park and ride nearby. Taxi’s back not outrageous. Esso Garage with shop very close.
If in Town try Abbey Wharf Bar & Restaurant. Great food with Entertainment at weekends.
