you could try the carpark behind the supermarket opposite the railway station or the carpark off the crescent on the west cliff....near the Sports complex.

but as Whitby comes under the wing of Scarborough council theres a chance youcould be moved on.

3 spring to mind.
1. Pay and display in the centre by the harbour. The car park past the Co-op. Keep right. Don't use the one on your left.
2. Council area opposite posh hotel. Don't use the sandsend layby.
3. 8 miles North. Cowbar carparking. Free, Quiet & overlooking the sea from magnificent cliff. Go thro' Staithes and turn right to Cowbar (ignore the signs...)

Pm me if you want more detail

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
I don't think I'd feel safe staying at blue bank over night it's a busy road. Were people not getting egged there not long ago ?
I think I'd rather pay £6 - £8 and stay at a CL . The CCC ones , 2 just coming out of Pickering over the moors or if your in the Caravan club the pub , is it the fox and rabbit? You can have a drink and chill without having one ear open IMO.

 Has anyone tried approaching farmers in a friendly way and asking whether they have a gateway, corner of a suitable field, trackway, etc, that would not be getting in their way or causing a livestock hazard (no wise cracks on that) for a stopover. They often have "acres" of space ?? just a thought.

GJH Is spot on about the central car park behind the CO-OP, it is a Parking trap, the warden will let you get settled' then Knock Knock .
There is a lovely little site on the north of the High level bridge
'Hogeths Farm' 'Caedermans' School They are not open for general campers during the winter but they are nice people, call in and give them a knock.
Not sure about the Leisure Centre Car park on the North Car park, that's a Pay and display.
Blue Bank is a bit dodgy on a night lots of 'Joy riders' up there.
Best Regards Mac
