Hi everyone, we hope to become motorhome enthusiasts in the very near future but have yet to buy a motorhome! Could anyone give us some advise about Niesman + Bischoff motorhomes. We have seen one for sale - a Flair Life 1977 Spanish Reg LHD 100,000Km asking price 19.500 euros. We do live in Spain.

    Thanks

They are a good make, but 1977 is 36 years old. If its been well looked after it could be a bargain, but it could equally well be a liability. Check everything especially damp.

    Hi and welcome.

I know very little about motorhome prices, and I stand to be corrected, but £16.000 for a 36 year old MH with 100,000 km on the clock looks more than a tad expensive to me. What do others think?

Buying a motorhome is all about personal taste..what you like and want someone else will want to give a wide berth..I would draw up a list of WANTS first (ie)

    How many berths
    Front lounge
    U Shaped lounge
    Fixed bed
I would say do not go for the first one you see as invariably it's the wrong sort layout storage berths etc..
Buy the mags..trawl the websites..visit a show or two..go to the dealers..and above all keep your options open..

The price looks pretty good, based on a quick search of Mobil.de
    << Mobil.de - N+B Flair Life >>

There is a private seller asking €28,900 for a 1996 model with 155,000 km on the clock. The 'Life' model is quite small for a N+B at 6.3 metres, most Flairs are a lot larger. Having said that it is only a bit shorter than our Hymer and we find that a good compromise of space and size. It appears that the Flair Life is built on a Fiat chassis with a 2.5 TDi engine. I have no knowledge of this rig but the power output suggests that progress will be 'stately but leisurely' - nothing wrong with that. Make sure there is enough payload to carry you and your belongings. N+B are solidly constructed and that tends to mean the basic vehicle is on the heavy side. The chassis appears to be plated at 3,850 kg which should be enough for the length of the van but make sure before buying.
As others have said, layout is everything so make sure you have decided on the 'must haves' and the 'nice to haves' before searching for the best compromise.

    Good luck with the search.

My old Hymer 564 had the Fiat 2.5TD-wonderful engine and chassis-it's built like a truck.
