Just received my snipe by courier and now I need to decide where on the roof to mount anyone got any pointers
The most open space on my roof means more internal cabling
And if I mount beside the skylight it may hinder the signal if open

Put it where you like
Any extra cabling is done across the roof in mini trunking
If you have solar panels or are thinking of them then consider the impact of the shadow it will cast.

Just shows what some dealers are "incapable" of. Paying good money is no guarantee of competence.

Thanks

Thanks for that I am going to fit solar panels and trunking is probably the best way of routing the cable to stop it flapping in the wind

I actually have mine sitting in a similar position to yours so maybe that's the way to go cheers

I inherited three of these John :Eeek: and it took a lot of blood and sweat to rectify

Difference

Some difference but worth the hassle , do you get much output from those panels

I replaced those panels as they were also sub standard. The three 100's that I have now can deliver over 18 amps. Click my signature picture to view them

I don't normally use those mounting brackets but two sets were already fitted so I kept the additional third the same.
I make my own generally.
I fitted these on Tuesday to another 7 series Rapido. Maybe the pictures will give you some ideas?

Thanks again I am watching a suitcase type panel on eBay which supposedly delivers 40watts or does this sound wrong to you

Depends how you want to use it. Personally 40 watts is inadequate for 9 months of the year.

EDIT why a folding panel. are you not installing it?

Suitcase

Well I spotted this one and it seems to have built in safety monitors to prevent overcharging and back feeding etc , I'm not very aufait with these although I would. Prefer to fit something to keep the -3 batteries up
Any suggestions
We have a diesel heater and the wife is always cold plus we watch a lot of tv plus a motorised dish:Smile:
Cheers

A 40 watt panel is only going to give you 2.5 amps (optimistic maximum) and only in ideal conditions. Really only useful to keep the batteries up in storage, no good at all for a 3 battery system.
Limiting factors are payload and roof space otherwise I advise 80 watts per battery minimum.
So if you are contemplating a folding panel I assume you are just going to stand it outside the van?
