Hi all,

I've just bought an old Winnebago Elandan 87' and is costing me a fortune. Its in the garage being serviced at the moment and the bill will be in thousands. It looks like the generator has given up the ghost too. I have been told by the garage that the roter has gone posibly the carburator as well.

It's an Onan Emerald BGE 5.5 kw

Does anyone know a decent chap who can fix it at a reasonable price, or buy a second hand one.

many thanks. Skender

All the best Skender.

Hope you get it sorted.

Those genny's weigh a ton....Hope you find one near to you otherwise the carriage might be rather a lot.Might be better to use freight.

We hardly use ours and I've heard others have pulled theirs out and replaced them with 240volt units.

Try Dave (Lugnutt) for advice.:thumb:He did a lot of work on his recently.

take it out and use the locker space for something useful..:ROFLMAO:

looking round the shows and meets not many RVer's use the onboard gennies on 'A' class RV's....too expensive/thirsty to run.....and smaller honda's and kipors are flavour of the day.

Honda/Kipor....most of the day on 10 ltrs:thumb:

Onan....most of the day on 10 gallons :ROFLMAO:

unless you need five and a half thousand watts of course !

Onan generator V Honda

Hi all,

Thank you all very much for the advice. The problem is that, this is my first van and I have no idea what I'm doing.

I will certenly look into getting a different one. I prosume that this would be a portable one...

thanks again

Skender,
If you go to RVOC (the sister site to Fun) there is a chap on there 'Bungle Bear' he customer service manager for Cummins Onan Generation and the total expert on all things Onan.
Also you may get quite a lot of help there too for any other issues on the RV.

Regards

Arthur.

Amazing when these old threads come up ,how many people have just come on for one problem then gone, never to be seen again , not even to say how they got on.

Hmmm never bother to look at the dates just 'recent posts' - perhaps I should. Ah well the info is there anyway & Bungle bear is current on RVOC for all things Onan.

Arthur.
