when buying a motor home privately any tips please?

All the usual, some sort of service history for chassis and depending on age habitation may need to be up to date for any warranty. Whatever checks it has had do your own as well or take somebody with you to look.

The advantage of buying private is that you meet with the owners and us your instinct as to how genuine they are.

HPI check for legal ownership.

If you are not happy walk away.

Make sure the logbook numbers match the chassis numbers, the MoHo is seen at the addy on the logbook not at a service station or anything like that, service record would be good and don't part with ANY money unless you are 100% sure.

Damp, damp and damp........ Vital to check with a good quality meter in the corners and around lockers plus rooflights

Hi Kate -Make sure it is what you want -check that everything works,and no damp present etc and drive it IF and when you find one and you are not sure on it GIVE me a call and I will give it a once over for you Don't hang around long as it may be gone -at the same time don't rush in as another will come along

Take a good torch and spend a lot of time looking at everything underneath. Look for rust, collision damage, repairs and broken things. The story of how your prospective MH has really been looked after is under there and on the roof........

Get the seller to show you every thing work`s.. ie Boiler/Heater/Fridge-Freezer/Oven/Grill/Hob (Look for a nice Pretty Blue Flame)...

if the van is like mine and the roll out is on the height should be ok mine at max is 265cm which is the max height for the kampa 390l

You might not find that the owner is keen for you to drive without some sort of comprehensive insurance cover. Check with them about it first and get day cover if necessary. That was the case when I bought my first MH.

I thought 265 was the minimum height of the xl where as 265 is the maximum height of the l either way it should fit
