Just over a week to go before we catch the ferry on our way to Spain...and the van is on a ramp at Newark whilst they 'try' to replace both front wheel bearings which failed on the MOT on Wednesday!

I had hoped it was going OK until a phone call a little while ago to tell me that the replacement bearing wouldn't fit! They only have one side stripped at the moment...apparently it took 15 tons to shift it!

Next Sunday we sail...I know it's over a week away but I could do without this .

Hhmmmm.. The movement tolerance on Ducato bearings is shockingly big..

It's done 65k, so they were about due, some slight play on one side was an advisory last year. But I've been keeping a ear out for any noise and nothing much was apparent. They will be trying to get it done quickly though as it's taking up one of the ramps! I think they said it seemed a bit 'loose'!

Had mine done at Halfrauds last November, picked it up and as I hit 40mph the wheel shook so violently it tried to chuck me out of the cab.

Turned out they had fitted the wrong wheel bearings, took her back and they fitted the right ones.

Yes, thank goodness came in at about £175 per side with labour. They must have been rumbling a while though as the difference now is wonderful!
