Hi Kath, RMB have been owned by Frankia for some time now. I love Frankias, but could never afford one of there later offerings. I would only part with my RMB when I stop motorhoming in Europe. It has become a labour of love getting it the way I want it, but its been worth it. I think your tag axle Frankia is fantastic.

Wow had no knowledge of the info you have just mentioned, but thank you for the kind words

Our lovely vehicle is 10yrs old now, we were lucky in finding him :ROFLMAO: (Bruno) took a bit of persuasion with o/h initially as he wanted a Hymer Tag but the layouts for me just didnt work x

Mo and funster's you have to go with what you are comfy with, no point having a RV if you are not going to use it worrying about the roads etc , or no point having a conversion if you cant cope with it on the British summer days :rain::rain:

You can always hire a car in France sometimes only 5 euros a day :winky::winky:

It's whats floats your boat at the end of the day really :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Our criteria was a roomy 2 berth with fixed bed, a large fridge freezer ( + microwave cooker) a full size cooker, cab air con, low profile and not too big to fit on the drive. We did consider a place for storage, but that's a pain when you just fancy going off after dropping your hat.
So, after looking at hundreds of vans, we ended up with our new 2 berth Broadway FB with a fixed double and another double made from the side facing sofas. We needed plenty of width inside for two dogs as well
So, its a 2.2ltr Pug based low profile, 23ft something long and as comfy as a very comfy van. We have just uprated it to 3700kg to give us a tad more carrying capacity and rear air suspension is on the cards too.
We also intend to spend a while living in it between house moves soon.
I would have liked the water system to be winterised, we never thought it wouldn't be! Our last coach built was a 1978 Ford CI Motorhome with inboard water and we lived in it for a few months over winter and everything worked fine. Not too good to drive though!
Mileage is just under 500, we expect to put another 1500 or more on it next week in France

Well a CHORE was the word chore and the others are Pain in the Arse, Part Exchanged and If You See What I Mean - all commonly used acronyms in Forumland.

The only actual error I can spot is I meant a porch awning not a park one!

Was 3 berth but have reduced it to 2 berth (I wonder why?)
2.2 Citroen engine gives us around 28mpg if we keep to the speed limits, (we did get 30 mpg on one 200km run, but not managed it since).
Made some mods to improve the kitchen workspace and also made the garage area more user friendly by adding a sliding shelf.

Is it our ideal van? . . . . . nearly:RollEyes:

motorhomes

we bought a Talbot motorhome about 3 years ago just to see what motorhoming was all about we enjoyed it but thought we need to change to something better and bigger as the Talbot was petrol with no power steering and very small inside.so we bought a fiat ductto 6 birth which is great and in pristine condition. when it comes to spending money on it nothing as been spared to keep it this way.however we want to flag our front garden so we can park the van in it .problem the vans too long I e 22ft it needs to be 20 or less. so looks like we will have to start looking for something else regards steve:Sad:

Ours is a 6 berth just under 8 metres.

It's too long for our drive so we keep it in storage.

Easy enough to get up and go. No problems on any roads or sites yet.

It's quite high though so I really need to avoid Rouen::bigsmile:

This van is the right layout for us. At the moment my son is sleeping in the over cab bed and yet we still have the 4 seater dinette and large lounge. In the old van the pull down bed covered the dinette and we had a fixed bed at the back so once I had got up I had nowhere to sit until the teenager decided to surface.

Ours is a 2002 Swift Kontiki 640 L

With the huge rear lounge.

I love the layout because it is so versatile. Can have 2 single beds or a huge huge bed.

We have tried every layout and we prefer the 2 single beds which we leave made up so no messing about.

We can sit on the single beds and eat dinner or watch tv.

When using it as 2 single beds we leave all the spare cushions at home because they take up so much space.

We have the overcab bed, but use that as storage space for toolbox. Tinned food. Lots of wine etc.

We also have the diner opposite the cooker which can also be used as a double bed, but as yet have never had to use it as a bed.

We have two very good size outside cupboards which can be accessed from both indoors and outdoors. This is where we store chairs and other essentials.

We have a scooter rack on the back where we put bicycles. We also store morroccan mat and windbreaks on the scooter rack.

We have on the roof a satellite dome, roof air conditioning, a solar panel.

We have a dreambox connected to satellite dome and take our sky card with us to get the full package.

I have looked at many Motorhomes since buying the Kontiki but don't see the point in changing for a newer one as they all do the same job and I like our van just how it is.::bigsmile:
