I am sure I have seen this info somewhere but cannot bring it up on search. I have just installed 120w panel wired through mppt controller to 100amp leisure battery and I understand that I should have inline fuse on positive side between controller and battery but can someone advise what value fuse this should be please, thanks

Thanks Andy, is that the only fuse I need to put in - or would you normally put fuse between panel and controller - I noticed a label with "lightening "type symbol on the positive cable from the panel.

The instructions do not call for a fuse on the panel side BUT I fit one simply to isolate the panel if required. If you do choose to fit one just make it a big one

Ah, that's ok then - if I need to isolate the panel I can just disconnect at the panel tails I guess. Thanks for the help Andy, another job off the list :)

That depends on the fuse holder used
A regular auto only goes to 30amp
I have a 50 amp bus fuse which comes on 6mm cable so only needed one through crimp and straight into the regulator
Never really considered a fuse in the input line.
Maybe i should know, but i dont.... how can you put a 12v fuse of any amp value in an unregulated 17v to 21v panel to controller line without it overloading ?

I've never heard of voltage rated fuses - other than some, which are the sort we are talking about, are designed for low, non-lethal voltages, but they are not voltage specific.

A fuse is only a conductor and in this instance not used for over current protection but for isolation
