I'm proud to be British for the achievements that we have made as an empire over time. I'm proud of our heritage and that ..when required we stood up to oppression and nazism and won. I'm proud of our inventors and of our language and I'm proud of our democracy which people around the world have emulated .
I'm proud of our united Kingdom and of our relationship with America.
I'm proud of our armed services and their professionalism and dedication.. not to mention sacrifices.
Our sporting achievements and sportsmen and women through history make me proud.
I am proud of our way of life which includes the NHS
I'm proud of our flag
I will always speak up for Britain.
(I might need to add other stuff here... it's early)

Our heritage, our armed forces, the royal family, our sportsmen and women, what remains of our culture, our democracy and the NHS.

Lots of things make me less proud but I am staying positive

I could hear "I vow to the my country" playing in my head as I read that!

Nicely put and I agree.. Sadly there are far to many things going on that make it hard for me to share your optimism..

Nothing now.

But at the height of our science and engineering we led the world, Made in England stood for something. This of course was shared world wide, one way and another, and now due to mismanagement and greed we've lost it.

Difficult question, I was born here and always lived here, I'm definately patriotic, but proud , I'm not sure.

When you travel the world, yes you see some wonderful sights and traditions. Some things are done much better than the UK but plenty isn't. Coming home is always good. In my opinion we are lucky to live in the best country in the world. The best people, the best countryside, the best music, the best culture the best beer, the list goes on. Is it perfect? Course not, but where is?

I wasn't going to bother to comment on this thread but reading through it decided that I am actually very lucky to be British.
Certainly proud of our scenery, democracy, Armed Forces, NHS and our music which is listened to in almost every other country in the world whether they can understand the lyrics or not (y)

one of the things that makes me proud is integration of other cultures. In music, the arts, in sport and in the media. I am proud of the way we have embraced gay marriage. I am also proud that we have been able to move forward in northern ireland from what was an impossible situation.

I love our ceremonies, things like changing of the guards. No other country can do processions like our military.
