as you start to entre the rv just above the first inner step there is a small switch on the left with on/off
anybody any ideas what it could do???
i know its not the step courtesy light or the step but it must be something around there

dont know about on your rv but on my compass a switch in that position turns on or off all of the 12 volt.

My two in that position are Battery disconnect and locker lights.

I would say either step switch, or could even be light switch - some have a lower switch to turn the lights off once you have disembarked.

been out and had a play
its to stop the step going in and out automaticaly
thanks for all the pointers
glad i have sorted it out as the step doesnt go all the way in on the auto part and it needs to be adjusted somehow but for now i will manualy hold it up with something

Hi if its an Atwood step it works on load sensing, if the mechanism is a bit stiff or you where to pull the step as it tried to close it will stop. I think its not only so they don't need limit switches but its also a safety feature.
