I use the free IE7 Pro, which seems to be quite an improvement on IE 7. It also contains an excellent Mini Download Manager.

I have tried the IE 8 Beta, but I only used it for a couple of days before reverting to IE7 Pro. It needs a fair bit of work done on it before formal release. IMO

IE6 here.

Works perfectly, am used to the layout and it's clear. Downloaded IE7 and hated the damn thing so unistalled it and went back to 6....and thats what i will stay with.

Sometimes later versions are not always a change for the better and quite often a change for the worse.

Porn?

Looks like we have a rogue member (See Above)!

Anyway, wouldn't use Internet Explorer to wipe the mud off of my boots! I used it for years until Firefox came along then binned it. Internet Explorer is the most awfully unsecure piece of rubbish that Microsoft ever created, now you must remember that I say this as a qualified Microsoft Certified systems Engineer.

Internet Explorer (IE) as well as being poorly secured is also very slow in comparison to other browsers, it is also subject to hijack and spyware due to the simple fact that Microsoft are rather disliked due to their monopoly of all things IT. If you still use it, do yourself a favour and simply try another like firefox. Its easy to use and will help keep your computer running smoothly. If anyone would like a guide of how to set it up correctly just ask, i'll be happy to help.

Here's the link to Firefox 3, just download it and run. Follow the prompts and import your shortcuts, the only immediate difference you'll see is that your favourites become "Bookmarks" and a vast improvement of speed.

Link Removed

By default it is set to google search page as a home page but that can be easily changed to your personal favourite home page.

Hope this helps?

Mark.

I may well give this a go.
A guy at work uses it and swears by it. I can't pass comment on it as i've never seen it, let alone used it.

My problem is being used to what i use on my PC and reluctant about making changes. The saying, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" springs to mind! I've used IE since first starting computing eight years ago and have to admit i find it simple to use and never had any trouble with it.

Would i need to completely remove IE before installing Firefox or can i download it and have a look first before removing IE?

Downloaded the latest IE last month and lots of things stopped working and my laptop started to lock up, went back to the previous version and had the same problems, switched to Firefox and have had no problems.

Firefox for sure, but with a twist... I only use the Portable version. That way, it can be quickly copied in full to my Pendrive for mobile use. Works superbly, and updates as normal. Never touch IE unless I have too...had a PC in for gix last week...he'd ignored my suggestion to only use Firefox, had over 300 Trojans/Virus/etc slowing it down :Eeek: He now uses Firefox......

IE7 & 8 (full version still not released as its on beta 2 ) are so far behind Firefox 3.0.3 and Opera 9.62 interms of customisation and speed of operation I find it hard to believe that people still use the microsoft offerings.
There are many on here who use payg internet access whilst on the move and could easily speed up page downloads.
Firefox is the more popular and easily customised but Opera is by far the quicker for page loading

When you mention 'speed of operation', are we talking in the region of a flash of blinding light?

I use IE6, simple to use, clear, clean and easy to operate. The only time it's been slow to open has been server related.....not the browser.

Firefox everytime, and Opera on a USB stick when travelling. I got rid of IE years ago and never, ever use it at home. Even use Firefox for Mac instead of Safari on the Macs as its faster and nicer to use. I agree that IE is bloated, runs incredibly slowly, has security issues and is one of the worst of Microsofts offerings. The enlightened use something else :roflmto:

IMO Firefox is THE browser, nothing beats it for speed, it renders clearer and crisper any other browser, it has more usable add-ons than any other browser, its more secure than any Microsoft browser. I lurve the spell checker which as I write has put a nice red sqiggly line under the word lurve. Its more customisable than any other browser. Its downloader beats everyone and its session restore is the dogs:thumb:
