Meant a totally different way of life for me after being widowed. 5 years now of solo fultiming with doggy and now on my 2nd M/home. (Rapido 776ff). Still loving it and no intention of changing while health and wealth (Pension + house rental)hold up.
Seems to have settled into a 'sausage' of travel with winter spent in southern Europe and Summer travelling round all the Grandchildren in the UK and Ireland. fultiming has its ups and downs like any way of life but on the whole the independence, freedom & relative cost savings give me a quality of life I would not have if living in my house and paying all associated bills.

To me & wife it's the only sort of holiday that suits us , been doing it now 36 years. It would be a bigger part of our life if we didn't have elderly disabled relative to cater for ( which means getting carers organised 24/7 in our absence ) & finances were some what better !!!.
But hey ho we really enjoy motorhoming when we can.

Where would you grow your cabbages....:)
Good question JJ but each to their own I think it is real innovation on your part. Who else could have thought of picking your own vegetables inside a motorhome.:xThumb::)

Having only had one non-camping summer holiday since I was age 15, motorhoming was a natural extension of all the other forms of camping we'd done, including various tents, a trailer tent, a classic VW Kombi, then a coachbuilt MH. We've just parted company with our first MH after 11 years and are looking forward to our next one with its more comfortable interior layout and posher gadgetry, which will probably last us until we stop (or snuff it, which ever comes first).

What has it all meant? The opportunity to travel more widely and to broaden our minds on our own terms, and not be subject to some travel operator's timetable or some hotel's silly rules and menus. We didn't get our MH to socialise in so we're happy to go abroad on our own using aires where we're surrounded by non-English speakers, and we're delighted with how it's all turned out so far. Some people spend their money buying bigger new houses or adding extensions to their old one - we kept the old house and spent our money on an extension with wheels attached. That's how we see it anyway.

Also, we will never regret buying it earlier than originally planned, ie before retirement. We've had over a decade of use out of it, 50,000+ miles of travel and we're not even retired yet.

Travel. I spent a large part of my life traveling all over the world and can't shake off the urge to keep moving. The van means I can now explore the UK and Europe, we've been to so many wonderful places and just enjoyed ourselves.

Not only introduced me to a certain freedom but also introduced me to the world of forums where apparently, I can get patronizing and rude comments whether I like it or not. Keep 'em coming :xrofl::xrofl::xrofl::xrofl::xrofl::xrofl::xrofl::xrofl::xrofl::xrofl::xrofl:. Seriously though, we have great holidays and can take our dog with us everywhere :xThumb:

We love where we live but the mohome gets us away, variety is the spice of life I've heard tell, how true.
We have travelled to so many places and the motorhome offers the best in freedom with the bonus of meeting new friends.

Well to us it means freedom. We are fairly new to motorhoming (2 years), but if we are honest it would not have worked for either of us earlier in our respective lives, due to circumstances.

What we both like is the freedom you get with not having to be anywhere at a certain time, and just enjoying ourselves without the pressure of being at home and dealing with the drudgery of home life and everything that comes with it. If we were braver we might even consider going fulltime with the backup of a property to fall back on.
We have just got back from a long weekend away in Suffolk, yes it was cold and miserable outside, but putting your feet up, watching a DVD and having a wee drink all in the comfort of our motorhome works for us.
Tried to explain the fun you can have in a motorhome to friends, but don't think they get it, ah well as long as we both enjoy it and the dog lol, that will do for us.

Roll on the next trip at Christmas, can't wait :xgrin:.

Originally bought our MH for accommodation when we work away but in the 18mths of ownership have found that we have been using it more and more for short breaks, just had a week on the west coast of Ireland, it performed faultlessly and waking up with the views in luxury make us realise just how lucky we are.

So for us it means freedom to wander wherever we choose at a pace that suits us.

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
The unique chance to travel to strange and exotic places, explore areas I would never have ventured to in my previous hobby, steam roller collecting, meet wonderful, inspiring and friendly people....
And eat them. :xdoh:

Haven't even got it yet (only 13 more sleeps). But getting one with the intention to full time from this time next year. Have been made redundant, have had 20 years of live-in jobs but still can't face buying a flat. I'm going to try this as a solution to my permanently itchy feet instead. Very excited but giving myself a year to work things out.

Mum buying the motorhome has changed my life. Instead of wanting to be home alone I"m now always wanting to be away exploring new places or just chilling out at old seaside haunts.

I've met so many wonderful new friends and even a motor homing man came into imy life :D
I'm so happy to have been introduced to motirhoming and you lot on here I'm happy to call friends.:)

Great pic , yes the means of travelling at your own pace once there all the facilities. I did a lot of years sleath camping in transit with a proper 2ft6 bed in back ( from Winchester prison) a carpet and cool box ! Now ford murvi , what a luxury . Just been away a week to experience the cold weather , past the test with flying colours .
