A couple of weeks ago I went to our motorhome in storage to discover the starter battery had gone flat, I was not impressed with myself, my only excuse is that we've recently moved house and I've genuinely not had any spare time whatsoever (n).
Anyhow, today I went there again to sort said problem, thought I'd just check it and low and behold it fired up, the vehicle battery level is showing low and I've now plugged it in to an EHU at the storage facility. My question is will this charge the engine battery or will I need to take it out and charge it separately or will the battery be knackered now anyway.
I'm guessing it may help if you know it's a 2016 Bessacarr 442.
Thanks for any help.
Dave

The ehu will only charge the engine battery if you've had a battery master or b2b fitted

I think you'll find it will trickle charge the vehicle battery depending on the type of EHU unit on the van ours is Schaudt and that keeps the battery charged

Being a recent Bessacarr I'd expect it to charge both batteries, ours was 2014 and it did.
You could call Chelston Motorhomes service dept at Wellington near Taunton - they're close to you & they sell Bessies - they'll tell you.

Everyone told me my battery would be knackered after it went down to something like five ... but twelve months on it is doing brilliant.

Now WHY did I tell you that ... you know what's gonna happen to my battery now don't you. . :(

Yes we bought the van from them, service dept is only open Mon to Fri though so I thought I'd ask on here. It seems to have worked though, I also took it out for a run tonight down the motorway so fingers crossed!

Too long lol
Your Bessacarr will charge both batteries and unless it's changed you can choose on the unit which battery to use and charge

On the instrument panel you can check the levels of leisure and starter battery, I've selected the starter battery so I'm hoping that's what will happen

Yes I have only recently learnt (after having the van for 3 years) that when i use ehu it DOES trickle charge the starter battery IF I use the correct switch on the instrument panel duh!! Hope it works for you @Dave K

... and once it's topped that one up, it'll switch to the leisure battery.
