anyone ever had a problem with parking due to vehicle class? ours is classed as a PHGV and we were badgered out of scarborough by a traffic warden who said we could only park in the lorry park even though we had bought a parking ticket !

I don't know for sure but it sound like the wardens are right, your vehicle is a heavy vehicle even though its private and the CAR parks may only be classed for light vehicle but I sure a bit of googling will reveal the truth to you.

A Weighty Problem

Be careful in Scarborough.

We used to enjoy visiting and parking in the bay above the Pleasure Park. We could stay for 24hrs for £6. Go spend our money on the shows for the kids, meal in town for supper, watch the sun rise next morning, another stroll into town for breakfast and a Sunday paper, bit shopping in the cheapo shops for things we never knew we needed.

Then on our last visit, about 2 yrs ago, we saw a council notice displayed on lampposts and parking meters stating that they were asking for changes to the parking laws.

They wanted to restrict parking in the bay to vehicles not in excess of 1.5ton (obviously thats us out) ..... also they wanted parking restricted to a max of 4hrs at any time, even during the hours of darkness, ....(so no overnighting any more)

We haven't been back since.

The signs now mention that you pay for the spaces you use, cant remember the exact wording though. We were there last week in our PHGV long motorhome and parked with no issues.
