We loaded up our van with everything we could think of (full fuel, full freshwater, 2 full 2 x 13Kg gas bottles, large awning, dog, wife, bikes on bike rack, full garage, clothes, full fridge and food and went to the public weighbridge and got the following results:-

Front Axle : 1820Kgs (Motorhome stamp : 2100Kgs) = Spare 280Kgs
Rear Axle : 2400Kgs (Motorhome stamp : 2500Kgs) = Spare 100Kgs
Whole van : 4200Kgs (Motorhome stamp 4250Kgs) = Spare 50Kgs

So have quite bit of spare capacity on both axles but only 50Kg overall?????

Am confused.... Can anybody explain.

If the front and rear axle maximums added together equals the maximum gross weight you would have to balance the payload exactly if at full weight.
The extra capacity of each axle gives you the leeway to load to suit you without hopefully overloading either axle.

As @Derbyshire wanderer said. Your maximum is 4200kgs gvw. The axle capacities allow for unbalanced loading as well as being able to be uprated in future if you so wish.
The Gvw or mam ,4200kgs , is the only one that counts for total weight.

With the weights you have you are legally able to drive the vehicle without being overloaded - and a spare 50kg to accommodate the beer/wine you bring home.

The weights on each axle will allow you to calculate the tyre pressures you require and that's your next step.

If more people weighed the MH in full Holiday mode the more they'd realise how little spare payload they have.

Well done, that chap!

And remember on the way back you'll have less food in the fridge/freezer, less water to carry, less gas and if the wife doesn't behave herself one less passenger so you'll have a very large spare capacity for all the essentials of a drinking mans life.

Enjoy wherever you go.

Careful if you pick up any hitch-hikers, illegal immigrants, or adopt a family. (y) :)
