I do not really know France at all but would like to visit for the odd 2 or 3 day trip. I would take my motorhome via the Channel Tunnel so any suggestions from there would be appreciated. At this stage I would prefer small villages/countryside/history-related destinations. Thanks

For history related, La Coupole is pretty much unique - an old WW2 V2 launch bunker. Looks like something from Thunderbirds or James Bond. Not far from Calais.

Arras is also quite interesting - the citadelle, the town square, the Carriere Wellington WW1 tunnels.

for the odd 2 or 3 day trip. Thanks

One thing is for sure, France is one big country and they put the best bits as far from the UK as they could which means you get to see the bits with UK weather and less exciting.

Try and find a bit more time.
