The external locker on my Hymer B544 is 25cm high. A Weber Q1000 BBQ (Weber, surely the best make of Gas BBQ) is more than that.

The Baby Weber is essential for our camping, we live off it in good weather. I wanted to avoid storing it inside though.

The lid is easy to detach making it about 24.5cm high.. just low enough to wiggle into the locker in a IKEA Blue Bag.

The issue isn’t removing the lid, that’s easy, 2 small pins and 2 small clips. The issue is losing the pins and clips. I wanted something more substantial and less fiddly.

Enter the bicycle mudguard stay. A bit of Uri Geller magic and a hacksaw later we have a removable locking hinge. It should be less prone to losing and you can do it one-handed.

Exactly what I do with my Weber Q to store in the Hymer side locker.. (y)

.. but never thought of making it less fiddly.. once out it stays out for the duration.
