While we wait for our house sale to go through in order to buy our van we have come here for a week. We wondered if there are any other funsters here and any recommended bars or restaurants? Went swimming today in the warm sea and sunbathing in 22 degree temps is very pleasant.

How is the main town centre? It was virtually washed away a few weeks ago?

Sorry no tips on where to eat.

We are in estoi now, phew, hot isn't it, all the restaurants in the main square in albufeira are reasonable if they have opened again, but a real Portuguese one is up the Main Street out of the square and up an ally to the left , usually an old woman outside with leaflets.

We couldn't believe what we were told about that mud slide. We looked at the pics on Google and were amazed that only one person died. We thought there was an awful lot of brown rubble about!

Actually we tried a trip adviser restaurant yesterday and were rather underwhelmed with it but it's all fun isn't it.

hi, if you visit Paderne, the ZIP ZIP restaurant is well worth a visit.
If you have a bicycle with you ,the area is just fabulous,up through the orange groves towards Alte. The hill up to Alte is a bit of a bugger, but you do not have to take it as there are a few wee roads that will take you back to Paderne, with very little traffic.

I have wintered in the Algarve for nearly two decades now... indeed I love Portugal so much I have bought a couple of bits of it.

Let me give you the benefit of my local knowledge...

...

Ranch Burger burgers are much better than the McDonalds ones but Burger King are still top of my list...

We went off in search of a little restaurant we discovered last night but couldn't find it. In the end we had cracking grilled sardines in a pub in the corner of Rua Santana where we'll probably eat all week. We have a birthday tomorrow in case anyone has any extra special recommendations!

Can't get a link to work but our favourite restaurant is called Casa Del Fonte.

Just Google it.

Says the man who, single handed, has kept the Fray Bentos Pies production line on overtime.

Currently down to my last 3 pies which I found in the Wagon at the bottom of a cupboard... (only 13 months out of date so should be fine.)

New supplies are on their way... (y)

Been to albufeira today, what a mess they are in sand and rubble everywhere , no wonder the restaurants are closed , water must have been at the top of the doors in some of them, :(never mind Harry's bar is still open and the Indian guy is still playing his panpipes so all is not lost(y), and the sun is still shining.
